Frequently asked questions
What the Austin Postal Customer Council is, what membership costs, and who can join.
- What is the Austin Postal Customer Council?
The Austin Postal Customer Council, or Austin PCC, is a local council established by the United States Postal Service to strengthen the working relationship between the Postal Service and the business mailing community in Central Texas.
It holds monthly educational programs covering topics such as postage optimization, mail design, supply chain updates and USPS technologies like Informed Delivery, alongside networking events with USPS leadership.
- What is a Postal Customer Council?
Postal Customer Councils are local groups established by the USPS to connect the Postal Service with business mailers in a region. There are more than 190 PCCs across the United States, and each is led by a volunteer board of directors made up of industry and USPS representatives.
A PCC gives mailers a forum to learn about postal products, hear about regulatory changes, meet USPS leadership, and connect with other mailing professionals nearby.
- How much does Austin PCC membership cost?
Membership is $55 per year.
That annual fee is separate from what an individual event charges to attend. Each event is priced by the board and its price is shown on the event's own page.
- Do USPS employees pay dues?
No. Anyone who registers with a @usps.gov email address automatically receives a free postal membership and pays no annual dues.
- Who can join the Austin PCC?
Membership is open to anyone with an interest in postal commerce in Central Texas.
Members include direct mail companies and lettershops, commercial printers and mail service providers, corporate mailroom managers, marketing agencies running direct mail, nonprofits that fundraise by mail, fulfillment and logistics companies, financial institutions that mail statements, software and technology vendors serving the mail industry, and USPS employees and leadership.
- How do I join the Austin PCC?
Create an account on the Join page at pccaustin.org/join, then pay the $55 annual dues online by card or PayPal from your member dashboard.
If you register with a @usps.gov email address there is nothing to pay -- your postal membership is activated for free.
- Do Austin PCC events cost extra?
It depends on the event. The board sets a price for each one, and most monthly educational events are free for members.
Events that do charge list two prices -- a member price and a guest price -- and both are shown on the event page. Guests are welcome at events that are priced for them.
- What do Austin PCC members get?
Annual membership costs $55 and includes: free admission to most monthly educational events; access to the Austin PCC member directory; networking with fellow mailing professionals across Central Texas; direct access to USPS leadership and operational updates; invitations to national PCC Day and regional conferences; email updates on postal regulation changes and industry news; opportunity to serve on the Austin PCC board of directors.
- Where are Austin PCC events held?
Events are held at venues around the Austin and Central Texas area, and the venue changes from event to event. The address and a map for each event are published on that event's page.
- How do I contact the Austin PCC?
Email info@pccaustin.org, or use the contact form at pccaustin.org/contact.
